Suppliers Lower Prices to Seek Sales, Spot Premiums Decline [SMM North China Spot Copper]

SMM, December 26:

Today, spot copper in North China was quoted at a discount of 220-140 yuan/mt against the front-month contract, with an average discount of 180 yuan/mt, down 50 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Transaction prices ranged from 73,970-74,100 yuan/mt, with an average price of 74,035 yuan/mt, up 115 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. As downstream enterprises gradually closed their accounts, suppliers actively lowered prices to seek sales, leading to a sharp drop in spot premiums/discounts. The overall market performance was relatively subdued.
